Newton County Farmer Bob Ormiston received the award as a River Friendly Farmer at the Indiana State Fair. The camera operates from a computer module located in the rear of the work vehicle and has the capability to see 360 degrees in color. The department has a variety of equipment for cleaning the sewer system including a remote controlled robotic camera. Both Water and Sewer systems have been in operation since 1910. The Cornish Creek Water Treatment Facility houses the Newton County Water Resources departmental offices, water quality lab, Lake Varner Park office, and maintenance divisions. Furthermore, the city has over 125 miles of sanitary sewer lines. We have approximately 185 miles of water main in our system that serve customers both inside and outside the city limits. ![]() The department services water main sizes from 2” to 30” pipe. By 1917, Beaver Lake had shrunk from its 28,500 acres to 10,000 acres, and today exists in name only.
